Body of five-year-old girl found from Essa Nagri

(Karachi) In a brutal incident, a five-year-old girl was found dead inside a gunny bag in Essa Nagri area, media reported on Sunday. There were burn injuries on the face of the victim.

As per details, some passers by witnessed the body in a garbage heap on an empty plot in Pir Bukhari colony.

The people immediately informed the police which reached the site and shifted the body to hospital for legal formalities. The victim has been identified as Marwa, who had gone missing from PIB Colony a few days ago. An FIR of her missing was registered at the relevant police station on her father’s complaint.

Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested a man and his son during a raid on a house in PIB Colony on suspicion of their involvement in the gruesome incident. The man along with his two sons had moved to the house a few days back.

One of the two sons is at large and a search is underway to locate his whereabouts, the police said.

The police said that the girl had a head injury which apparently led to her death with her face burned to mangle her appearance. The police said they suspect that she might have also been subjected to sexual assault but await a final post-mortem report to ascertain it.

Later, area residents and relatives of the victim took to streets and protested against the police inability to arrest the suspects. The protesters blocked main artery from Jail Chowrangi to Civic Centre and demanded immediate arrest of the criminals.

A police team reached the spot to negotiate with the protesters and assured them the accused will be awarded punishment.
