ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Metrological Department has said that rains in Sindh have subsided and dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of Sindh during the next 10 days, with one or two brief rains at a few places during the period. Dry weather conditions in Karachi will be supportive for rescue/relief operation during the next 10 days, it added.

The Met department also stated more rains were predicted in the upper parts of the country on Thursday and Friday.

The National Weather Forecasting Center has stated that monsoon currents from Bay of Bengal are likely to reach upper parts of the country during the next 12-18 hours. A westerly wave is also present over northwestern parts of the country.

Rain-thundershower with isolated heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Dir, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday/Friday.

Heavy falls may generate urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, and may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, during the period.

Rain-thundershower occurred in Kashmir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan during the last 24 hours, while remained dry elsewhere in the country.
