In the wake of the current spell of torrential rains in Sindh, the water level of the Hub Dam has reached a record high of 338 feet.
The Hub Dam was last full during the rains of 2007. Once the water level of the hub, which supplies drinking water to Karachi and several areas in Balochistan crosses the 338-foot mark, water will start overflowing.
During the last three days, Sindh has been receiving rainfall and it is due to this that more than eight feet of water was recorded in the dam, local media reported.
The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has issued an alert and rescue officials are being dispatched to the area. According to WAPDA sources, the stored water in the dam is enough to supply Karachi for the next three years.
As Hub Dam is over full, and the water being diverted into the Sea, can someone explain why the residents of DHA Karachi , have no water in their water pipelines and are being forced to buy Water Tankers ....
