ISLAMABAD: Indonesian Embassy on Tuesday arranged a lunch for media persons at its premises to pay tribute for their contribution in highlighting and carrying the news and events of the embassy to the millions of their readers and viewers across Pakistan and beyond, and hence promoting people-to-people contacts
between the two countries even closer.
Ambassador of Indonesia Iwan S Amri, who was the host on the occasion, in his remarks termed the media cooperation of immense importance as it was not only promoting the goodwill between the people of the two countries but essentially helping create awareness about the opportunities that exist between the two countries to benefit from.
The ambassador said his diplomatic five years tenure in Pakistan has been wonderful and greatly rewarding experience.
"I discovered that, contrary to its perception, Pakistan was gifted with enormous natural beauty, resources and talented friendly people," he said.
Despite various challenges, he believed that Pakistan has all the components in place to emerge as a peaceful economic hub in the region.
He mentioned that familiarization trip 'Wonderful Indonesia' that Embassy organizes annually for the journalists, renowned bloggers, travel writers and TV channels to provide them an opportunity to experience the rich and diverse culture and explore wide range of opportunities in Indonesia have been very successful and has raised awareness in Pakistan about trade, tourism, education and other opportunities in Indonesia.
Concerning the bilateral economic cooperation between the countries, the ambassador stressed on the significance of fostering sustainable bilateral trade relations, and said Indonesia and Pakistan must work together for the sustainable trade relations between them.
He believed that existing and emerging trade and investment opportunities, if truly capitalized had immense potential to bring business cooperation between the two countries to new heights.
