Initial standards for Pakistan auto industry be submitted to Cabinet in coming days
- Pakistan auto sector is dominated by the Big Three i.e. Toyota, Suzuki and Honda, the trio of Japanese auto manufacturers is often criticized by the public for not introducing many improvements in its products, despite charging high prices.
The process of standardizing Pakistan’s auto sector finally picked up some steam after Federal Minister of Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain informed that the initial standards pertaining to the auto sector will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval within a month.
“The standards for vehicles made in Pakistan have been fixed. The initial standards will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval within a month,” said Chaudhry in a tweet.
“I believe that it was a very difficult task, a lot of obstacles were put in front,” he added when questioned regarding the situation of the country’s auto sector.

Back in February, Chaudhry said that the process of standardizing the country’s auto sector has commenced. “Pakistan has initiated to make major reforms into standards, and after food and electronics, vehicles made in Pakistan will now be included in the standard system,” said Chaudhry in a tweet.
