KARACHI: The Pakistan Airline Pilots Association (PALPA) has urged the prime minister to order an inquiry into an incident recently in which an unidentified person tried to set the record at the licensing branch of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on fire. "We also urge the Supreme Court to take a suo moto notice in order to properly investigate the matter," PALPA said.
Additionally, a thorough investigation should also be conducted to find out why the report which had formed the basis for the fake licenses issue surfaced again despite being rejected by the Supreme Court last year.
PALPA alleged that the prime minister and the parliament had been deliberately misinformed on matters of pilots' community. It said that "the campaign against the pilots" was actually undertaken to victimize the community. PALPA welcomed the acknowledgment by the prime minister that the pilots' "fake licenses fiasco was unnecessarily created and improperly handled".
