Algeria wheat tender purchase estimated at 560,000 T
- Early estimates put the prices paid at around $231-$232 a tonne, including cost and freight (c&f), traders said.
HAMBURG: Algeria's state grains agency OAIC has purchased around 560,000 tonnes of optional-origin milling wheat in an international tender which closed on Tuesday, European traders said in initial assessments on Wednesday.
Early estimates put the prices paid at around $231-$232 a tonne, including cost and freight (c&f), traders said.
More details are expected later on Wednesday.
The wheat was sought for shipment in two periods from the main supply countries, Oct. 1-15 and Oct. 16-31.
If sourced from South America, shipment is between Sept. 1-15 and Sept. 16-30.
Algeria is a vital customer for wheat from the European Union, especially France.
A poor French harvest this summer has sharply reduced export supplies in the EU's biggest wheat producer and is expected to lead other EU countries to increase export sales to Algeria this season.
