CDA hospital: FIA asked to probe delay in making cardiac unit operational

ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary body on Tuesday directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct an inquiry with respect to year-long delay in making operational the cardiac unit of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) hospital.

The Sub-Committee of Senate Standing Committee on Interior, which met with Convener Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmed in the chair, directed the FIA to conduct an inquiry with respect to delay in making operational the cardiac unit of the CDA's hospital, and submit report before the committee.

The committee also asked the FIA to take action against the responsible people after submitting report before the committee.

The CDA officials informed the committee that necessary equipments for setting up of cardiac unit were purchased in 2011.

The committee has also decided to conduct a surprise visit of the CDA Hospital in order to check various departments of the hospital, and will make recommendation for improvement of overall performance of the facility.

The parliamentary body also discussed the criteria being followed for recruitment against the posts lying vacant in the CDA Hospital.

The CDA officials informed the committee that the hospital management would complete recruitment process of vacant posts within two months, and would submit report before the committee.

The committee was informed that over 202 posts of various cadre were lying vacant, and the authority had obtained a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Establishment Division for recruitment on vacant posts.

Senator Sardar Muhammad Shafiq Tareen, Mian Muhammad Ateeq Sheikh, and senior officials attended the meeting.
