ISLAMABAD: The incidents of carjacking, various kinds of theft, kidnapping and murder witnessed an increase in the capital city during the last week despite tall claims of the police regarding a number of initiatives being taken to control rising crime ratio.

According to data gathered by Business Recorder, the city's various police stations registered six cases of car lifting, four cases of theft, four cases of kidnapping, and two cases of murder, during the last week in the metropolis.

In the same period, the most favourite areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Margalla, Karachi Company and Golra police stations.

During the last week, auto thieves stole two vehicles and robbers stole valuables from a house in the jurisdiction of Margalla Police Station.

Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number AEY-948 belonging to Fatima Saleem worth Rs2,000,000.

In another incident, Zuhara Aziz lodged a complaint with Margalla Police Station that some unidentified armed persons entered her house and snatched mobile phone, cash and a car bearing registration number AAU-439, and escaped from the scene.

Similarly, Karachi Company Police Station registered one case each of robbery and kidnapping during the last week.
