ARTICLE: "As I keep saying imitation is the best form of flattery."

"Ha, ha, indeed, I was hoping that The Khan, during the inauguration of the Peshawar BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), much delayed with a historic cost overrun..."

"And not yet fully completed."

"And not yet completed referred to it, albeit facetiously, as the jangla bus but, nope, he said Metro bus."

"That was not the funniest part of his speech."

"I know the reference to Pervez Khattack being right all along...."

"Who was demoted as Minister of Defense from the position of Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, a demotion that he reportedly fought against...."

"The Khan needed him in the federal capital."

"Couldn't The Khan have given him the Interior Ministry - if you recall he successfully fought the container attack put in place during the PML-N tenure and...."

"Container Shah's experience was more relevant!"

"Container Shah was Musharraf's nominated High Commissioner to Australia which incidentally Australia rejected if you recall....."

"On that point let me refer to Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, not getting the US visa and viola! Look at him today!"

"I see anyway what was funny to me is this latest trend in The Khan's speeches...."

"The Khan's extempore speeches, mind I, like The Khan, also ridiculed Mian Nawaz Sharif's reading out from a piece of paper he was clutching on the White House lawns but my ridicule was not that he had prepared his speech but his delivery, I mean that was appallingly poor...."

"Agreed and need I add Maryam Nawaz's delivery during her recent press conference was good, she had prepared points but did not do a daddy!"

"Did not do a daddy indeed! How long do you reckon it would take the party to send her into political oblivion if daddy is not there?"

"Not long but she gets media attention unlike the fuddy-duddies of the party and can gather crowds though one has to see if she can when the party is out of power."

"OK but we know now that Uncle Shahbaz aint gonna challenge his brother's directives but what about a time when his brother is not in a position to issue directives?"

"Not long I agree but you presuppose exit on the basis of age and that doesn't always work out, besides I reckon the party will split in any case as and when Nawaz Sharif is out of the picture."

"Hmmm anyway going back to The Khan's speech at the BRT inauguration what was very amusing, but is getting to be the hallmark of all of his speeches lately, was his appreciation (khiraj-i-tehseen) to those he has appointed for work badly done."

"That's politics my friend."

"I think it's more to do with the fact that The Khan believes that if he appreciates their effort Pakistanis would believe him."

"And that's where the war of the narrative starts and sometimes ends - remember Nawaz Sharif also thought his narrative on the Panama case would prevail and it didn't."

"That's true."
