KARACHI: Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation (DGI&I), Customs Karachi has confiscated huge quantity of smuggled goods including tobaccos worth Rs 111.78 million during a raid at old city area.
The action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that some unscrupulous persons were involved in the transportation and dumping of various smuggled goods at Masha Allah Building located at M A Jinnah Road for further disposal and illegal sales in the market.
Reacting on this information, a joint operation was launched, which lasted for nearly eight hours. The Directorate staff during search, recovered myriad quantity of smuggled goods including gutka, cigarettes, creams, filter naswar, medicated heat spray, shampoo and others. The recovered goods were shifted to the state warehouse under the joint escort of the customs intelligence and SSU Sindh police. Moreover, official sources said no import documents were recovered from the spot therefore after preparation of detailed inventory, all recovered goods were confiscated.
