ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said stability of Middle East was necessary to ensure the regional and international peace.

The President expressed these views while talking to the ambassador-designate to Syria Air Marshal (Retd) Rashid Kamal and ambassador-designate to Libya Maj. Gen (Retd) Sajid Iqbal who called on him separately here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Mamnoon hoped that peace and stability in Libya and Syria would be established soon and the people of both the countries would have a peaceful and prosperous life.

He stated that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Libya and Syria and directed the ambassador-designates to make concerted efforts for enhancing bilateral trade and people-to-people contacts with their respective countries of appointment.

He emphasized that there was a need to increase cooperation in different fields in order to further deepen the relations with Syria and Libya.

He underlined that Pakistan was connected through historical, cultural and religious ties with the both countries.

The President underscored that Pakistan’s position on the situation in Syria was based on the principles on international law and UN charter.

He called for protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and expressed hope that the issue of Syria would be resolved politically.

Talking to the ambassador-designate to Libya, the President said that different organizations of Libya could benefit from the training programmes being offered by Pakistan in the fields of engineering, medicines, agricultural and banking sectors.

The President also directed the ambassador-designates to take all possible measures for the welfare and resolution of the issues of Pakistani community in their respective countries.
