JOHANNESBURG: South Africa's benchmark Top-40 stock index edged back into positive territory for 2011 on Friday, rising 0.8 percent as investors returned to shares of retailers and telecoms following a rise in Asian markets.
The Top-40 was up 0.81 percent at 28,643.66 at 0722 GMT, just above last year's close of 28,639.40.
