London: Europe's main stock markets steadied at the open on Tuesday after recent volatile trading.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index climbed 0.1 percent to 7,186.69 points compared with the close on Monday.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 was flat at 12,282.76 points and the Paris CAC 40 slipped 0.1 percent to 5,136.09.
