Sindh CM requests PM to give state funeral for Asma Jahangir

Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah wrote on Sunday a letter to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi requesting a state funeral for renowned lawyer and human rights activist Asma Jahangir.
The CM posted the letter on Twitter, in which he has also requested for the national flag to be flown at half-mast on the day of her funeral.

Asma's funeral will be held on February 13 (tomorrow) at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Asma passed away on Sunday after suffering from cardiac arrest.
CJP, judges grieved at Asma Jehangir’s demise
Asma, the former president of Supreme Court Bar Association, was 66 years old. Born in 1952, Asma studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary before receiving her B.A from Kinnaird College and LLB from the Punjab University in 1978.
She was put under house arrest and later imprisoned in 1983 for participating in the movement for the restoration of political and fundamental rights during the military regime.
She was also active in the 2007 Lawyers’ Movement, for which she was put under house arrest.
