LAHORE: The Pakistan People's Party leadership expressed deep grief over the demise of renowned lawyer and human rights activist Asma Jahangir.
In separate condolence messages on Sunday, the PPP leaders termed her death a great loss to democracy.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that she struggled for democracy and the rule of law during her whole life. PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said that she bravely fought for democracy and human rights, adding that she would remain in the hearts of people forever.
PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira said in his message that the country had lost a voice of deprived people adding that Asma was a brave woman.
PPP Punjab General Secretary Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad remarked that Asma was a symbol of woman rights and her struggle against dictators would never be ignored.
All PPP leaders prayed for peace for the departed soul and patience for the bereaved family.
