LAHORE: Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz Ahmed on Thursday said that all conspiracies to derail democratic system in the country would be foiled. Talking to media persons at the Punjab Assembly, he said, "Gone are the days when dictators used to topple elected governments and grabbed power," adding, dictatorship always damaged democracy.
To a question, Raja Riaz said, it was high time that all political forces joined hands to save democracy. "If we suffer all will meet the same fate," he cautioned. He said, some unpopular and rejected politicians had launched a smear campaign against PPP government and memo case was part of that move.
Responding to a question, he said there was no polarisation among institutions.
He urged PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to work for strengthening democracy instead of weakening it.
