Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL)'s achievements regarding promotion of book culture in Pakistan is commendable and will be remembered for a long time. Aisf Ghafoor, Secretary Ministry of National Heritage & Integration (NH&I) said this while addressing the concluding ceremony of 5-day National Book Fair titled: "Qaumi Kitaab Mela" arranged by PAL here on Friday to promote book culture in the country.
Ghafoor said that PAL has arranged the book fair on the eve of National Book Day and International Book Day to be held on April 22-23, respectively. The purpose of the event is to get young generation close to books and provide general readers an opportunity to buy books on up to 50 percent concession in price.
He further said that the book fair has housed a number of major publishers from different cities and a good variety of titles can be seen all around here. Abdul Hameed, Chairman, PAL thanked the publishers, NGO's, academic institutions, writers and general readers for their special participation in the book fair. At the end of the ceremony, Ghafoor distributed certificates to the institutions which participated in the book fair or assisted in the arrangements.-PR
