Scattered rain/dust-thunderstorm hit Balochistan and parts of Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Kashmir in the last 24 hours, Met office said on Thursday. In the fresh advisory, the office said "a well marked westerly wave still persists over north-western parts of Balochistan".
It said under the influence of this weather system, moderate to heavy rainfall associated with gusty winds was very likely to fall over north Balochistan during the next 36 hours. "Rains may cause flash flooding in the local rivers/streams of the area," it warned. It said the system was moving in north-east direction and was likely to dissipate from Northwest Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours. It advised the fishermen could continue their activities by Friday afternoon.
It forecast scattered rainfall of light to moderate intensity was also likely over most parts of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, and Kashmir during the next 36 hours with isolated heavy rainfall in D I Khan and D G Khan Divisions during the period. The forecast suggests widespread dust-thunderstorm rain with gusty winds are expected in Balochistan, lower/Central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and scattered in Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan in the next 24 hours.
It says "heavy falls are also predicted at scattered places of Balochistan (especially Northern/south-western parts) lower/central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while isolated in upper Punjab and D G Khan division," in the next 24 hours.
