Ministry of Defence has notified an increase in the salaries of the employees of the civil aviation authority (CAA) up to 25 percent with immediate effect. According to detail, 20 percent increase has been given to officers and 25 percent pay increase to the staff, which was settled after negotiations between Secretary Defence, Nargis Sethi, and representatives of CBA, Officers Association and Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) on April 16, 2012 in Karachi.
The current increase, ie 25 percent increase in PG-1 to PG-6 and 20 percent increase in PG-7 to PG-11. The Ministry has also notified the increase in rating allowance of ATCs, which was approved by the Civil Aviation Board which met in Karachi on April 16, 2012.
It is pertinent to mention that the Secretary Defence, Ms Nargis Sethi, was specially given the task by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Defence Minister, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar to take immediate and necessary steps for the resolution of long standing demands of pay structure of the employees of CAA.
Sources said earlier, ICAI Union of Civil Aviation Authority demanded the increase of salaries of employees up to 40 percent. The ministry is of the view that significant increase in pay and allowance will serve to enhance the working and motivation level of officers and staff which would translate into making the CAA a world class regulatory body.
