Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that implementation of the roadmap of school reforms and promotion of education in the province has yielded positive results. He was addressing at the universal enrolment campaign 2012 in the province, at Daanish School Chishtian on Thursday. He said that 100 percent enrolment of children will be ensured in Punjab and no child will be deprived of educational facilities.
He said that the target of enrolment of 31 lakh children in the province has been fixed for the current year. He said that officers showing good performance with regard to development of education sector and implementation of the roadmap for promotion of education will be encouraged while action will be taken against those showing negligence in this regard.
British educationist Sir Michael Barber, Provincial Education Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Advisor Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Divisional Commissioners of Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, District Co-ordination Officers and EDOs were present. The Chief Minister said that the aim of progress and development cannot be achieved without education and in view of this fact the Punjab government has taken revolutionary measures for the promotion of education in the province. He said that school reforms programme is successfully being implemented in the province.
He said that special measures have been adopted for the promotion of education in south Punjab and Daanish School System has been launched from Bahawalpur division. He said that facilities of modern and quality education have been made available to the children of the common man and the poor people through setting up Daanish schools in far-flung and backward areas of the province. He said that boy and girl students completing education from these seats of learning will play an important role in the progress and development of the country.
He said that besides removing backwardness from south Punjab, Daanish School system will also help eliminate extremism, poverty and unemployment. He said that instructions have been issued to the officers for the implementation of the roadmap for educational development and it is now their responsibility to play their role in this regard.
He said that he believes in reward and punishment and the officers showing good performance will be awarded prizes. He issued orders for the immediate suspension of EDOs(Education) Lodhran and Dera Ghazi Khan for unsatisfactory performance and also directed EDOs (Education), Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur to improve their efficiency. He directed Commissioner to personally monitor enrolment campaign and ensure strict implementation of the roadmap.
