SC gives Daniyal Aziz 10 days to finalize counsel in contempt case

Supreme Court (SC) granted on Wednesday Privatization Minister Daniyal Aziz 10 days time to finalize a lawyer for his representation in the contempt case against him.
Aziz appeared before a three-member bench headed by Justice Azmat Saeed on Wednesday. He was summoned by SC in a suo moto case against his anti-judiciary speech. The court granted Aziz 10 days to arrange his counsel and prepare to submit his reply on February 19, local media reported.
SC issues show cause notice to Talal Chaudhry in contempt case
Earlier, the SC had issued a show cause notice to Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry over his contemptuous remarks against the judiciary.
Last week in a similar contempt of court case, the SC found Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz Senator Nehal Hashmi guilty. The court disqualified him from holding public office for five years and also sent him to jail for a a month. The SC took suo motu notice of his speech, in which Hashmi threatened judges of apex court and joint investigation team members, probing offshore accounts of Sharif family.
