The profit after taxation of National Refinery Limited (NRL) has declined to Rs 2.163 billion in the nine-month period ended on March 31, 2012 as compared to Rs 4.845 billion earned in the corresponding period in 2011.
The Board of Directors of the company in its meeting held on Wednesday declared that the company's earning per share stood at Rs 27.05 in the period under review against Rs 60.60 in the same period a year back.
According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange, the company's gross sales increased to Rs 150.008 billion in nine-month period ended on March 31, 2012 against Rs 129.194 billion in the same period last year. The company paid Rs 23.850 billion as trade discount, taxes, duties and levies in this period against Rs 22.676 billion paid in the same account in the same period last year. The cost of sales increased to Rs 122.266 billion against Rs 99.343 billion.
The company's profit before taxation declined to Rs 3.422 billion in the nine-month period ended on March 31, 2012 against Rs 7.287 billion in the same period last year.
On quarterly basis, the company's profit after tax declined to Rs 578.508 million translating earning per share at Rs 7.23 in the quarter ended on March 31, 2012 as compared to after tax profit of Rs 1,709.985 million with per share earning of Rs 21.38 in the same period a year back.
