Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, has said that a modern slaughter house has been set up in Shahpur Kanjran with the collaboration of Punjab government and brotherly Islamic country Iran. He said that this project is a unique example with regard to standard and transparency. Modern machinery and technology have been installed in this, state of the art, slaughter house, he added.
He said that this project will help provide quality, hygienic and cheaper meat to the citizens besides increasing exports of the country.
He said that the production capacity of livestock of the Punjab will also be enhanced due to this modern slaughter house.
He said this while presiding over a meeting of Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMCO), Shahbaz Sharif said that poverty and unemployment can be eliminated by promoting livestock besides strengthening the economy on strong footings.
He said that Punjab government has adopted a comprehensive strategy for promotion of livestock in the province and setting up of modern slaughter house in provincial metropolis is a part of that strategy.
He said that no political interference will be tolerated in operating slaughter house and it will be outsourced completely. While constituting a committee for this purpose, he directed that this committee should take steps for completing the process of outsourcing at the earliest.
Replying to questions of media-men, Shahbaz Sharif said that doctors are associated with a sacred profession and their strike is contrary to their profession and oath.
He said that doctors have taken oath for providing treatment to the patients at all cost whether it may be war or peace or any other natural calamity by remaining above all considerations.
Therefore, they should serve the ailing humanity by calling off strike and honouring their oath and profession, he added.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has spent billions of rupees for improving the service structure of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff and uplift of health sector for the last quarter to four years.
He said that besides increase in salaries, additional eight billion rupees have been provided for the welfare of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff this year.
He said that ad-hoc appointments were made in the past but we did not remove them from service and taking along with us. He said that we promoted merit in the province and all appointments are being made on the basis of only merit.
The Chief Minister said that the government provided free facility of dialysis to the kidney patients in 36 districts of the province and installed air-conditioners in government hospitals for the convenience of the patients by spending billion of rupees.

He said that new hospitals are being constructed speedily all over the province and quality treatment facilities are being provided to the people of backward areas at their doorstep through mobile hospitals.
Shahbaz said that new medical colleges are being set up for the promotion of medical education. He appealed to the young doctors to call off their strike and spare no effort in serving the ailing humanity. This is the demand of their profession and oath, he added.
Replying to another question, the Chief Minister said that the decisions taken in the energy conference are not being implemented and he will ask the Prime Minister to ensure the implementation on the decisions of energy moot otherwise, the future course of action will be decided after consultation with party leadership.
He said that corruption and plundering have ruined the country. He said that theft is a theft whether it may be small or big. But if a poor became defaulter of 50,000 rupees, his life is made miserable and if a rich man plundered billion and trillions of rupees, there is no one to hold him accountable but now this culture will have to be eliminated, he reiterated.
