Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that the educational institutions need to act as centres of wisdom in true sense, which in the prevailing circumstances, when we as the nation are faced with the challenge of national image building has become all the more important.
Addressing faculty members and students of the historic institution, Islamia Collegiate School at its campus in Peshawar, the governor said he always feel proud of having remained student of this alma mater.
This great institution, the governor said, was established by its founders with specific objectives keeping in view the ground realities of the time and it indeed has been contributing to educate the people of this region to make them forward looking and moderate citizens of the country.
He paid rich tributes to the founder of the institution Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan for this great service to the people of the region.
The KP and Fata are the abode to the people whose culture and traditions are the rich treasures and this institution and educational institutions are expected to produce the graduates having abilities to compete their counterparts at the national and international level and prove themselves good leaders in their respective disciplines. As far as the government is concerned, the governor said.
It is their earnest efforts to ensure an environment in educational institutions wherein fully groomed and balanced graduates could quality. The governor said that the image of violence, extremism and militancy were alien to the culture and traditions of the region, the people who have been highly tolerant, accommodative and democratic minded and we need to project that in correct perspectives.
Pointing towards students, the governor said, they are lucky for availing educational facilities in such a prestigious institution and at the same time they also owe a lot of responsibilities of guiding and educating those fellow citizens who could not make through in joining them.
In this connection, he also mentioned the fatal disease of polio, because of which, he said, we are also confronted with difficulties and challenges and there is a need to make collective efforts in getting rid of this stigma.
Therefore, the governor pointed out that it is the responsibility of every educated and aware citizen to keep vigil eye on the surroundings and make sure that each and every child is vaccinated. Polio drops, he added, is the easy process to protect future of minors and expressed the confidence that the educated lot of the province and Fata will make demonstrate complete sense of responsibility in this respect.
The governor also inaugurated newly constructed Haji Sahab Turangzai Block and administered oath to the newly elected office bearers of the teaching staff association of the institution.
