Graduation ceremony held: PAF has highly sophisticated air defence system: Air Chief
Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff said, "Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has highly sophisticated aircrafts, air defence system and other supporting equipment that will be assigned to your care as custodians of the country's aerial frontiers.
He was speaking as chief guest at the Graduation Ceremony of 128th GD(P) batch, 72nd Engineering, 86th Air Defence and 11th A&SD Courses after Commissioning Parade of 130th GD(P), 76th Engineering and 12th A&SD Courses held at PAF Academy, Risalpur.
To keep these precious national assets in the highest operational state, and accrue maximum advantages out of them, the air chief said, it is incumbent upon every one to exercise his/her professional acumen and technical expertise to the maximum.
"The oath that you have taken today symbolises the trust that nation and PAF have reposed in you, which puts an important and sacred responsibility on your young shoulders", he said.
"I am confident, you will Inshah Allah acquit yourselves of the duties in a most dignified manner, in line with the aspirations of the nation and traditions of the PAF", he further said.
A total of 84 Under Training Officers and 16 Cadets graduated and 117 Cadets commissioned on the occasion. The ceremony included the award of branch insignias to the graduating cadets and trophies to the front-runners.
The chief guest awarded the Champions Banner to No 1 Squadron of the Academy.
Pilot Officer Muhammad Imran Afzal of No 128th GD(P) and Pilot Officer Attaur Rehman of 72nd Engineering Courses were awarded trophies for Best Performance in General Service Training, respectively.
Chief of the Air Staff Trophy for Best Performance in Flying Training and Engineering were awarded to Pilot Officer Muhammad Fahad Gul and Pilot Officer Faizan-ul-Haq Rajpoot, respectively.
Trophy for Best Performance in 11 A&SD course was awarded to Pilot Officer Saad Zafar and trophy for Best Performance in 86th Air Defence course was received by Aviation Cadet Sergeant Omar Akram.
Sword of Honour for Overall Best Performance in College of Flying Training was won by Pilot Officer Muhammad Suhaib Alam and Pilot Officer Faizan-ul-Haq Rajpoot received Sword of Honour for Overall Best Performance in College of Aeronautical Engineering.
The ceremony was followed by an exhilarating aerial display by the PAF Academy Aerobatics team 'Sherdils' and paramotor glider formation 'The Eaglets'.
The ceremony was witnessed by high-ranking officials, diplomats, foreign dignitaries and a large number of guests of graduating /commissioning Under Training Officers and Cadets.
