An impressive array of Pakistani arms put on display was one of the highlights of the Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA) 2012 that opened on Monday in Kuala Lumpur, Hamid Raza Khan, Press Attache High Commission for Pakistan in Malaysia told Business Recorder through an E-mail message.
He said the 13th edition of the DSA which was being organised at Putrajaya World Trade Centre of Kuala Lumpur had drawn some 200 delegations from 35 countries and nations while some 25,000 trade visitors from over 58 countries were also scheduled to attend the four-day event. The theme for this year's edition of DSA is "The Global Defence Services and Government Security Event".
A 16-member high-level Pakistani delegation led by Secretary Ministry of Defence Production Shahid Iqbal is also attending the expo being arranged by the Ministry of Defence, Malaysia (MINDEF). The Monday's opening of the event was followed by a splendid display of the world's most sophisticated military hardware and software technology as well as technology for homeland and security services. The Pakistani pavilion studded with a vast range of modern and state-of-the-art weaponry drew crowds of keen visitors and prospective buyers, including senior government officials, army, navy and air force officials from the host and participating countries.
Secretary General Ministry of Defence of Malaysia, Datuk Dr Haji Ismail Bin Haji Ahmad and Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Aziz bin Hj Jaafar, Chief of Malaysian Navy were among several dignitaries who visited the Pakistani pavilion and asked keen questions about the Pakistani weapons and other defence-related products. During the visit, the Pakistani delegation will also hold key meetings with defence officials from Malaysia and other visiting countries. The event is likely to serve as a platform for creating favourable linkages and forging strategic alliances and partnerships besides offering opportunities for joint collaborations in defence manufacturing and procurement fields.
