The City District Government Lahore (CDGL), in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board, will prepare a software for compiling performance data of all departments in union councils and towns. The data, it was learnt, would later be transferred to the DCO office.
An official told this correspondent on Sunday that the District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Lahore, Noorul Amin Mengal, had disclosed this while presiding over a meeting of officers of the Punjab Information Technology Board and district administration on Saturday.
He said that all district departments had been instructed in this regard.
"The city government has decided to adopt latest information technology for timely provision of facilities to citizens and immediate resolution of problems faced by them. Necessary measures are being taken in this regard," he added.
According to him, information technology would be used to gauge the officers' performance.
Meanwhile, the DCO told officials of the city's education department that the city government had released a grant of Rs 70 million for providing facilities in schools on priority basis. Highlighting the city government's efforts for improving the education system, the DCO criticised absences and poor performance of teachers during December 2011 and directed officers concerned to ensure 100 percent attendance. He also directed them to depute more teachers in schools situated at border and rural areas.
