Oil tankers parked in different areas of Karachi including Shirin Jinnah Colony would be shifted here and this relocation work would be carried out with full force that would bring improvement in the flow of traffic on city arteries.

Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad said in past oil tankers were removed from various areas of city on many times but it was not the permanent solution and the construction of oil tankers parking terminal was the only permanent solution of this problem. He said this being a joint project carrying out with the co-operation of Government of Pakistan, the Provincial Government, KMC and the Oil Companies. The project would cost Rs 1166 million and a sum of Rs 313 million would incur in the first phase of the project.

An underground water tank and an overhead tank with shades will also be built in this terminal which would have room for 2375 tankers at a time. Following the directive of Governor of Sindh parking of oil tankers at other places in the city will not be allowed after completion of this project. He said empty tankers would be parked in this terminal while these would enter into the city for filling purpose only.
Administrator Karachi said construction of such an oil tankers terminal was an old demand of the citizens of Karachi which was being fulfilled. The second phase of the project would cost Rs 800 million. Federal minister for Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain expressed hope that construction of oil tankers parking terminal would bring considerable improvement in the city's environment and help in eradication of air pollution.-PR
