Message from Chairman PJBF

Published Updated

It is indeed a great honour and a privileged for me as Chairman Pakistan Japan Business Forum for three consecutive terms to be celebrating 60 years of bilateral diplomatic relations with Japan. Our relations have blossom into an important substantial relationship whose strength is exemplified by the frequent exchange of high level visits which have also immensely assisted in the development of the multifaceted government and private sector co-operation.
This has contributed greatly in providing Japan-Pakistan relations with dynamism. We must now build an extensive economic co-operation between our two respective private sectors as there is great untapped potential. We recently concluded on 21st and 22nd March 6 Joint Dialogue with Japan Pakistan Economic Co-operation Committee and in a friendly environment on bilateral economic issues affected both private sectors and Government sectors. We hope this dialogue would lead to both governments monitoring the progress on the issues raised in particular reducing custom duties so that Pakistan is provided a level playing field to Pakistan export of textile leather and other products.
The Government of Japan requested to provide vocational trainings for the automotive and leather industries in Pakistan with testing centers for road worthiness of vehicles. In particular transfer of technology for manufacturing of Auto Parts to increase localisation and make Pakistan a hub for export of suitable automotive parts. The Government of also requested to provide assistance for improvement of infrastructure ie power , roads, and for development.
We also recommended that JPBCC must now has permanent cell for Pakistan at the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce to provide information and assistance to Japanese investors and buyers of Pakistani goods with the close coordination of the economic and trade section of the Pakistan Embassy at Tokyo and Osaka with close co-operation with PJBF office at Karachi and Lahore. I am sure that are joint efforts potential of Japan will be utilised for setting up value addition industry, relocating Japanese industries so that the waste natural and human resources of Pakistan are utilised to the optimum for the benefit of the both the countries and their people. On this occasion I wish all members of the Japanese communities those dealing with Japan. My could wishes on this celebration and I hope and pray that the future will bring both are countries much closer greater and closer co-operation.
