LSE index sheds 87.09 points

Bullish sentiments dominated on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Thursday and the equities registered declines across the board amid selling pressure due to profit taking.
The LSE-25 index was decreased to 3654.79 against 3741.88 of Wednesday, denoting a fall of 87.09 points while transaction volume was squeezed to 11.375 million shares as compared to previous volume of 19.267 million shares.
The market was opened on a depressed note and in the absence of buying support continued to slide down throughout the day. The investors offloaded their holdings to secure their position that resulted in selling pressure in blue chips including Attock Refinery, Shell Pakistan, Pakistan Oil Fields, Nishat Mills, Engro Foods, Fauji Fertiliser, D G Khan Cement, Arif Habib Corporation, Bank of Punjab and MCB Bank while Lucky Cement, Fauji Cement, Lafarge Pakistan Cement and Maple Leaf Cement also booked losses.
However, Adamjee Insurance, Dewan Farooq Motors, Sui Northern, Kohat Cement, Engro Corporation, Flying Cement, Askari Bank and Dewan Salman Fibre resisted pressure and were ended in green zone.
The losers were considerably more than the gainers, as out of a total of 91 active issues, 12 companies posted gains, 46 registered losses while 33 companies were closed at their previous levels.
Adamjee Insurance gained Rs 3.01, Dewan Farooq Motors was improved by 96-paisa while Sui Northern and Dadabhoy Cement were up by 95-paisa and 88-paisa respectively. Attock Refinery lost Rs 4.96, Lucky Cement was declined by Rs 4.34, Nishat Mills was depreciated by Rs 2.95, while Shell Pakistan and Pakistan Oil Fields were down by Rs 2.74 and Rs 2.43 respectively.
Fauji Cement with trading of 1.664 million shares topped the volume leaders while Lafarge Pakistan Cement stayed as runner up with 1.285 million shares.
