The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and Balochistan Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) announced on Thursday the approval of US $16 million grant that will help improve the availability, accessibility and delivery of primary and secondary health services in six crisis affected districts of KPK, by revitalising health care services; rehabilitating the health infrastructure; and establishing and operationalising a robust monitoring and evaluation system at district and provincial levels.
The project will be implemented over three years and will be co-financed by the government of KPK. "We are grateful to MDTF for this project, which will focus on both primary and secondary health care and will be in line with the World Bank's Batagram model of public-private partnership." said Muhammad Tariq, Additional Secretary Establishment of KP who was present at the occasion.
The project will be implemented by the Health Sector Reform Unit (HRSU) of the Department of Health, Government of KPK. HRSU is responsible for prioritizing reform initiatives, harmonizing donor support and providing technical support to the districts.
"Access to health services is a basic right of all individuals and is imperative for the growth of a society. "By working with the Department of Health and the KP government this MDTF-funded project will help improve the lives of the people living under adverse circumstances and help them access better health services," said Rachid Benmessaoud, World Bank Country Director for Pakistan.-PR
