The Karachi Port handled 115,644 tonnes of cargo comprising1 73,158 tonnes of import cargo and 42,486 tonnes of export cargo including 3,257 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 73,158 tonnes comprised of 26,374 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,008 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,220 tonnes of coal; 3,661 tonnes of urea; 2,127 tonnes of rock phosphate and 34,776 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,486 tonnes comprised of 29,818 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20 tonnes of general cargo; 648 tonnes of cement and 12,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Two ships namely MT Quetta and Spar Lupus carrying one oil tanker and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
A general cargo ship namely Malaspine Castle are currently at the berths. Four ships namely Hanjin Durban, Zante, Marcampania and Sea Merchant carrying two container ships, one general cargo ship and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Champion Pride with naphtha ship is expected to sail on Thursday.
Three vessels viz APL Brisbane, Abtin-1 and Ahoora with three container ships, palm kernel and units respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday, while two vessels viz Chem World and Hellenic Horizon with one ethanol ship and one rock phosphate respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 27,353 tonnes includes 6,794 tonnes of chemicals and 20,559 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 3,864 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV MSC Hina and MT Belsize Park with containers and chemicals respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.
A total number of two ships namely CV MSC Hina and MT Belsize Park are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours. As many as two ships namely CV CMA CGM Wagner and MT Omera Queen with containers and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz CV CMA CGM Wagner and MT Omera Queen with containers and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
