France expresses sadness

France Wednesday expressed sadness over 138 missing persons as a result of an unprecedented avalanche which hit Pakistani troops at Gayar sector at Siachen glacier last Saturday. A French embassy's statement issued here on Wednesday said, "France learnt with great sadness that 138 persons are still missing after an avalanche hit the 6th Northern Light Infantry Battalion, in charge of the Gayari sector of the Siachen glacier".
It said, "France empathises with the pain of the families and offer its condolences to all those who lost one of their relatives in the tragic avalanche."
