The activities of Tanzeem-e-Ahle Sunnat-Wal-Jamaat of Gilgit Baltistan and Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) on Monday chanted slogan and blamed each other for the recent unrest in Gilgit Baltistan. Tanzeem-e-Ahle Sunnat-Wal-Jammat staged protest at Jinnah Avenue and ISO demonstrated at D-Chowk. Activist of both the groups chanted slogans against each other, but the evident physical brawl was avoided by the officials of district administration.
Heavy contingent of police was deployed to avert any untoward incident as tempers on both the sides were high on the occasion. Maulana Sanaullah Ghalib of Tanzeem-e-Ahle-Sunnat-Wal-Jammat said the chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Inspector General of Police IGP and interior Minister are using all government resources against Tanzeem-e-Ahle-Sunnat therefore exemplary punishment should be given to IGP and CM and Gilgit Baltistan be again given under the control of federal government.
He said the government had arrested the main leadership of Tanzeem-e-Ahle-Sunnat-Wal-Jammat whereas the law enforcement agencies had not arrested a single leader of Ahle Tashi. The government must release our main leaders otherwise it would be responsible for dire consequences, he added.
The government should implement the agreement inked in 2005 between the two groups and also punish the group, which violated the pact, he said. They also threatened the city administration to remove the ISO camp from D-Chowk as soon as possible otherwise they would also stage protest in front of the parliament House.
The activists of ISO also chanted slogans against the government and TASWJ. They demanded of the government to arrest people involved in the recent killing in Gilgit Baltistan and bring them to justice. They said they would continue their protest till the culprits are not arrested.
