The Egyptian state's main wheat-buying agency, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), on Wednesday set a tender to buy an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for May 21-31 shipment. Nomani, vice chairman of GASC, one of the world's biggest state importers of wheat, said the agency was seeking to buy. If wheat is offered from Kazakhstan or another Black Sea origin at the seller's option, GASC specifications for Kazakh wheat will apply to the whole cargo, Nomani said.
Tenders should reach GASC by noon local time (1000 GMT) on Thursday and the results should come out around 4:30 pm (1430 GMT) on the same day. Wheat bids should be free-on-board, with a separate freight offer. In its last international wheat purchase on March 28, GASC bought 60,000 tonnes of US soft red winter wheat and 60,000 tonnes of Argentine wheat for May 11-20 shipment.
