In order to attain fast and un-hurdled development of higher education in the country, it is imperative that possible ways of self-assessment be introduced in the teaching methodology. This was stated by the Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, Professor Dr Muhammad Qaisar, in his address to the inaugural session of a workshop titled 'Self-Assessment Report'.
A spokesperson of the institution said on Sunday that the moot was organised by the Quality Enhancement Cell of the University of Karachi.
While expressing his gratitude on the fact that most of the faculty members of the University were present at the occasion, Dr Qaisar said that this presence shows the interest of our teachers in dispensing quality education to our younger generation.
Resource person of the workshop, Professor Peerzada of the Comstech Institute of Information Technology, informed the audience that Self-Assessment Report is actually a distinct part of the teaching methodology, which benefits the teachers even more than the institution.
While highlighting the objectives of the workshop, Professor Peerzada said that by pointing out their own weak points, teachers can control the factors that hamper dissemination of quality education.
During his welcome address, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell, University of Karachi, Professor M Sajdeen, shared his plans, according to which University of Karachi is struggling hard to deal with each and every obstacle in imparting quality education and in order to achieve the goal more awareness seminars and workshops are in the pipeline.
Dean Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences, Professor Abuzar Wajidi, distributed shields among the participants and said that modern technology needs to be introduced in formulating self-assessment report so that the qualitative as well as quantitative details related to teaching and research can be highlighted.
Professor Dr Aqeel Ahmed, Department of Microbiology, KU, shed light on the importance of computing and laboratory facility in higher education.
Campus Security Advisor, Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi, appreciated the efforts of the Quality Enhancement Cell and said that as teacher he looks forward to evaluating his teaching methodology and drive it to the path of perfection. Students Advisor, Professor Dr Ansar Rizwi, Professor Kaleem Raza Khan, Ms. Ghazal Khwaja and a large number of faculty members attended the workshop.
