Commissioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafiq Malik has ordered to curb all kind of unlawful parking on service roads from PIC to Cricket House within three days. He also directed for shifting of all vehicles to the newly constructed parking area behind Jail Road near Mental Hospital and said that no parking fee would be charged at present.
This decision was taken in a meeting under the chairmanship of the Commissioner Lahore Division held here on Friday, disclosed an official. The Commissioner said car lifting squad should be activated for curbing unlawful parking in the vicinity of Services Hospital.
He also ordered for making a new road cut in front of Services Hospital and opening of more new passages within the Services Hospital so that patients and their attendants could have easy access to the hospital. "Parking will not be allowed in the area from Jail Road traffic signal to Canal Bridge and the service road would be used for one way traffic," he added.
He also directed that separate sections should be earmarked for large and small vehicles and proper arrangement of electricity, water and security should be made in the newly parking area. He issued instructions to TEPA and LDA authorities for the construction of spacious footpath for the pedestrians.
The meeting was also attended by Colonel Liaqat Ali Punjab Institute of Cardiology, PIC Consultant Dr Mudassar Khokhar, CTO Lahore Sarfraz Ahmad, SP Sadar Asif Zafar, Admin Incharge Major Zubair Khan, TEPA, LDA and officers of other concerned departments.
