No one can malign armed forces, judiciary: CJP

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Friday said that any Balochistan minister if who had wrongly accused Balochistan Frontier Corps of human rights violations in the province would be rendered disqualified from his office.
Heading a three-member bench of Supreme Court which resumed hearing of Balochistan High Court Bar Association's constitutional petition about poor law and order in the province here, the Chief Justice made it clear that no one could malign the armed forces or judiciary of the country.
The bench also comprised Justice, Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice, Tariq Pervez. Inspector General Balochistan Frontier Corps, Major General Obaidullah Khattak, appeared before the bench in connection with the missing persons' issue. He told the bench that the FC did not have any involvement in the disappearance of persons in the province and said a clarification on behalf of the FC had already been published in a section of press.
The Chief Justice remarked that the FC was required to inform the Interior Division in writing in this regard. During the hearing, the Station House Officer, Sariab Police Station, present in the court in connection with four out of seven persons who went missing from Sariab Road area on March 10.
Replying to the Chief Justice query, the SHO said that these persons had been found late Thursday night in Sariab Road area and could not be investigated about the location where they had been kept during the period. The Chief Justice ordered the release of recovered persons if they are not wanted in any case. Besides, he allowed them to meet their family members.
The court during its previous hearing on the petition on Thursday last had ordered the Inspector General Balochistan Police to produce these missing persons before bench in its next hearing of the case. On a complaint by the families of the recovered persons about misbehaviour of the SHO Sariab, the Chief Justice admonished the police official.
He also ordered the recovery of the remaining missing persons by April 9 next and directed the IG Police for registering a case against the official if he was found involved in kidnapping for ransom incidence. The Chief Justice expressed displeasure over the absence of Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP). Later, the hearing was adjourned to April 12.
