New terms of engagement with US: party conveyed its concerns to Munter, says Nisar

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday conveyed its reservations over new terms of engagement with Washington to Ambassador Cameron Munter. Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, while speaking at a news conference after the party's consultative meeting chaired by Nawaz Sharif, said that his party conveyed the similar concerns to the US ambassador that the party had been voicing in the joint session of the parliament on the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security.
He said Munter came and met with PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif to know about the reservations of the party on the new terms of engagement with the US. When asked what the US ambassador said in response to PML-N concerns, Nisar said: "We conveyed our concerns to him and diplomats' job is only to convey that."
However, sources said the PML-N chief said that the US should ensure respect of Pakistan's sovereignty and stop drone attacks. A senior PML-N leader said the party chief also urged the US to respect the earlier unanimous resolutions of the parliament. The sources said British High Commissioner Adam Thomason also met separately with Nawaz Sharif and various matters including mutual relations, war on terror and the ongoing parliamentary process of review of the foreign policy particularly the new terms of engagement with the US, Isaf and Nato came under discussion.
