Lahore Lions, Karachi Dolphins, Peshawar Panthers and Sialkot Stallions moved into the semi-finals of Faysal Bank Super Eight Twenty 20 Cup underway at Rawalpindi Stadium. Lahore Lions will play Karachi Dolphins in the first semi-final while Peshawar Panthers will face Sialkot Stallions in the second semi-final.
Karachi born right-handed batsman Asad Shafiq's fabulous innings of 58 runs helped Karachi Dolphins to a five-wicket win over Lahore Lions in a Group B match at Rawalpindi Stadium, on Friday. Asad whose innings included six fours was declared Player of the Match.
Put into bat, Lahore Eagles amassed 148 runs for the loss eight wickets in 20 overs. Imran Farhat was the highest scorer hitting 41 runs off 31 balls with the help of 5 fours and a six. Captain Taufeeq Umar (30), Azhar Ali (23), Saad Nasim (19) and Ali Azmat (11) also batted well. For Karachi Dolphins, Rumman Raees and Haaris Ayaz bagged two wickets each giving 27 and 25 runs, respectively. Mohammad Sami, Tanvir Ahmed and Faraz Ahmed also shared one wicket each conceding 35, 34 and 24 runs, respectively.
In reply, Karachi Dolphins could managed to reach the target in 18.1 overs losing five wickets. Sheharyar Ghani also played well as he remained unbeaten at 44 runs. Shahzaib Hasan (19) and Khalid Latif (14) also played well. For Lahore Lions, Mustafa Iqbal bagged 3 wickets for twenty-six runs. Emmad Ali and Taufeeq Umar also shared one wicket each giving 18 and 10 runs, respectively.
