Bullish sentiments dominated on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Friday and the equities registered gains across the board amid improved trading turnover following fresh buying in cement, oil and banking companies shares. The LSE-25 index was increased to 3707.59 against 3629.40 of Thursday, denoting an improvement of 78.19 points while transaction volume was increased to 17.387 million shares as compared to 12.672 million shares traded a day earlier.
The market was opened on a positive sign and stayed in green zone throughout the day. The investors kept on buying that helped improve market sentiments. Most of the blue chips including Lucky Cement, D G Khan Cement, Maple Leaf Cement, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, Fauji Cement, Fauji Fertiliser, OGDC, PSO, PPL, Nishat Mills, Treet Corporation, Allied Bank, United Bank, NIB Bank, Askari Bank, Bank Alfalah and Askari Bank. However, selling pressure was also seen in Engro Foods, Engro Corporation, Bank of Punjab, Japan Power, Pakistan Reinsurance, Dawood Hercules, Engro Polymer and Chemical.
The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as out of a total of 88 active issues, 39 companies registered gains, 10 went down while values of 39 companies remained unchanged at their previous closing. Lucky Cement gained Rs 5.4, Fauji Fertiliser was improved by Rs 4.77, OGDC was appreciated by Rs 3.32 while PSO and Nishat Mills also posted gains of Rs 2.77 and Rs 2.64 respectively.
In the minus column, Engro Foods lost Rs 1.85, Engro Corporation was declined by Rs 1.59 while Bank of Punjab and Japan Power were depreciated by 93-pasia and 85-paisa respectively. NIB Bank with trading of 5.006 million shares topped the volume leaders followed by Bank of Punjab with 3.826 million shares.
