NRO implementation case: Supreme Court to announce verdict on April 16
While hearing the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case, a seven-member special bench of the Supreme Court decided on Thursday to announce its ruling on April 16 over non-implementation of its orders by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in relation to writing a letter to Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
Earlier, a seven-member bench led by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk had directed the Prime A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, on December 14, 2011 reserved its decision over the applications filed by Federal Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat and PML-N MNA Khwaja Asif regarding the alleged corruption in the award of RPP contracts. After hearing arguments of all the parties, the court had observed that a detailed judgement, instead of a short order, would be announced on the matter.
