Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that the young generation is highly talented and the government is committed to train and educate them on modern lines. While addressing laptop distribution ceremony for the brilliant students of 12 girl colleges at Alhamra Complex, Qaddafi Stadium Zakia Shahnawaz said that the modern education is a dream of Chief Minister Punjab as it is essential for the future of the country.
According to her, the government has taken practical steps for the development of education sector and a number of programmes have been started for polishing the talent of students. The distribution of laptops among brilliant students is also a part of government efforts in this regard.
Begum Zakia said that government has given scholarships to brilliant students for education in international universities. She said that Daanish Schools have been set up in backward areas while Punjab Endowment Fund has been established for enabling the poor but talented students continue their studies.
She said that these measures have given a new confidence to the students. She expressed the hope that the young generation will play an important role in the elimination of corruption from the society. She stressed upon the students to continue to work hard and devote themselves to the acquisition of knowledge for ensuring a dignified status for the country in the comity of nations.
As many as 2,364 students of 12 colleges were given laptops at the ceremony. Students of Home Economics College received highest number of laptops followed by Queen Merry College, Government College for Women Gulberg, Islamia College Cooper Road, Government Girls College Wahdat Road, Government College for Women Samanabad, Government Science College Wahdat Road, Government College Township, Government Islamia College Railway Road and MAO College Lahore.
