Swiss franc up

Published Updated

The Swiss franc ticked up against the dollar on Thursday after data showed exports from Switzerland rose strongly in February, adding to signs the economy is holding up well despite the strong currency, making any move to weaken the franc unlikely.
The franc was up 0.3 percent against the dollar to trade at 0.91 by 0724 GMT compared to the New York close, but was flat against the euro at 1.2055 - the level where it has hovered for the past few days. The safe-haven franc, which the Swiss National Bank capped at 1.20 per euro on September 6, has been trading in tandem with the euro which has risen in recent weeks as the bloc's debt crisis has eased somewhat.
