Sindh High Court (SHC), Circuit Bench Hyderabad on Wednesday set aside the plea of Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim for the grant of leave from Sindh Assembly session and declaring him as leader of the opposition. The petition was filed by MPAs Arbab Zulfiqar and Abdul Razzaq through their Counsel Advocate Muhammad Yousuf Laghari.
Laghari prayed the court for grant of leave to Arbab Rahim citing Section 56(1) of the Sindh Assembly's rules of Procedure which state that on continuous absence of 40 days from attending the session a member's seat could be declared vacant. The Division Bench comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbassi and Justice Muhammad Tasnim heard the arguments of Laghari and the Advocate General Sindh, Abdul Fateh Malik and dismissed the petition.
