The under trial prisoner reportedly claimed his life at a bathroom of Malir Court in the limits of Al Falah police station on Wednesday. According to police, the incident took place at the bathroom of Malir Court where a 26-year-old Riaz son of Naseem Khan committed suicide with the help of his sash and hung himself at the window of bathroom.
SHO Al Falah Asif Munawar said the victim, who was in prison at Landhi Jail, came to the Malir Court for hearing before district judge east. He said the prisoner hang himself with the help of his sash. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem. The body was handed over to the heirs after medico legal formalities.
He said deceased Riaz was arrested by Sacchal police in January 2012 over the charge of committing robbery in a passenger bus at Super Highway. The case 12/2012 was registered under section 392/34 against him. He said the Riaz hailed from Mohmand Agency and was living in quarters at Sohrab Goth. However, the victim's father Saleem Khan claimed that his son was innocent and was working as construction Labour and alleged the police to nab him in fake case.
