Thailand Princes Maha Chakri Sirindhorn said on Wednesday that Pak-Thai diplomatic relations, based on friendship, could be taken to new heights through frequent exchange of delegations between the two countries. The Thai Royal Guest said this in her brief address at a luncheon arranged in her honour at Governor's House.
The event was attended by parliamentarians, provincial ministers, high ranking officials from the civil and military administrations, elites of Peshawar, educationists, doctors and politicians. The Princess said, Thailand and Pakistan enjoyed fifty years old diplomatic relations, adding her visit to Pakistan and particularly this region of valiant Pukhtoons nation would further boost ties between Pakistan and Thailand. She said that Thailand wanted to maintain friendly and brotherly relations with both governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan which could be taken to new heights through exchange of delegations.
She said it was a privilege for her to visit this historic city of Peshawar and thanked the Government of KP for extending warmest hospitality to her entourage. She maintained that member of her entourage really enjoyed the visit to this great city which is full of Gandhara civilisation and home to finest collection of Buddha artifacts.
The Thai Princess was also greatly impressed by the historic Islamia College which she visited in the earlier part of the day and held this great institution in high esteem for promoting education and human development. The founder of nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah donated one third of his assets for this historic institution, she concluded.
Governor KP Barrister Masood Kausar in his address while welcoming the Thai Princess Maha Chakri and her entourage, said Pakistan and Thailand enjoying cordial relations for the last more than fifty years. He said these kinds of visit would contribute a lot in further cementing relationship between the two countries.
