The Disciplinary Committee of the Punjab Bar Council (PBC) on Wednesday decided to get register a criminal case against a fake lawyer Hammad Mushtaq who tortured a genuine lawyer and litigants in District courts. The committee asked PBC secretary to get the case registered against the accused Hammad Mushtaq.
The disciplinary committee of PBC also issued notice to his brother Advocate Ammad Mushtaq to appear before it on the next hearing. The committee issued this order on an application of Syed Shabbir Bokhari who contended that Hammad Mustaq wearing lawyer's uniform along with his brother Ammad and armed accomplices forcibly stopped him and his client Zafar Askari from attending the proceedings of a case in the district court on March 16, 2012. They made them hostage on gun point and also tortured. After initial interrogation, the committee found out that Hammad Mushtaq was not enrolled as advocate with PBC but he was appearing in courts as lawyer and hence they decided to get a criminal case registered against him.
