The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday declared the assets of rich senators that run into millions and billions of rupees. The ECP statement includes some trustworthy names who have also avoided revealing their actual assets.
Senator Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), who is widely respected, has left the vehicle column as blank while he could be seen wandering around in capital in his 5-door latest Toyota land cruiser worth over Rs 5 million.
Another renowned politician Senator Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain of PML-Q is also without any vehicle. According to ECP, he has Rs 36000,000 cash in bank in his own name and Rs 17,900000 in the name of his wife. Senator Haroon Khan has also forgotten to fill the vehicle column. He is usually seen while driving a latest Range Rover, while details of his assets along with cash in bank and in hand, investment and furniture and fixtures run into billions of rupees. He has gold worth Rs 1200,000.
Senator Safdar Abbasi has not also got any vehicle as per his asset details, declared by the ECP. Mian Raza Rabbani has a house in Defence Karachi, gifted to his wife worth Rs 5500,000 while he has a term deposit of Rs 47500000 and a Mercedes Benz costing Rs 4300000. He has also furniture and fixture worth Rs 1500000.
Waseem Sajjad owns 10 plots, several houses and farmhouses besides shares and accounts in various domestic and international banks. The declared worth of his net assets is Rs 72.96 million. Senator Ishaq Dar of PML-N owns a House in Gulberg, Lahore worth Rs 45 million. He owns three luxury vehicles, including a Mercedes Benz said to be valued Rs 10 million. Dar also holds shares and businesses worth millions of dollars inside and outside Pakistan. The value of his furniture in personal use is Rs 250,000.
Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, the new chairman senate has a 1990 model Chevrolet worth Rs 500,000. He also owns 35 tola gold valuing Rs 18,00,000. He has Rs 1286000 cash in hand and Rs 161997 cash at bank at UBL, F-8 Markaz branch. The value of his furniture for personal use is Rs 250,000.
Senator Pervez Rashid of PML-N is 'poor' senator as he has only Rs 124,000 cash in Bank of Punjab, with no other asset, business or liabilities. The total value including cash in hand and bank, moveable and immovable property of PPP secretary general Jehangir Badr stands at Rs 9566913.
PPP Senators Gul Muhammad Lot remained the richest among Senators. The market value of his immovable assets held within Pakistan is Rs 69,500,00 while he owns assets outside Pakistan with market value of Rs 600.034,000. The market value of his moveable assets held within Pakistan is Rs 349,794,258, while outside Pakistan he has assets worth Rs 118,080,000 and foreign remittances/assets from his property is Rs 18,219,211.
Dr Asim Hussain holds immovable property within Pakistan with present worth of Rs 52,592,556 while his moveable assets are of Rs 300,000. He has got shares worth Rs 41,531,730 at present value. Under the head of investment, he has unsecured loan valuing Rs 34,610,972 at present. He has got a 2003 model Honda car worth Rs 1,195,000. He has cash in hand and bank Rs 507,842 and Rs 6,937,096, respectively. And furniture and fixture worth Rs 450,000. In liabilities, he has unsecured loan Rs 502,556.
Senator Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, who is also finance minister, has Rs 1.8 million cash in hand. He has a plot in Lahore Bedian worth Rs 1.3 million, a inherited house in Jackobabad valuing Rs 1.0 million and 47 acres 19 ghuntas in Deh Bhatti, deh Noor Muhammad, Deh Mir Muhammad and Taluk Khanpur Shikrpur inherited land Rs 5.0 million. Sheikh has a residential property in Dubai worth Rs 70.5 million and the approximate value of his assets brought or remitted from outside Pakistan is Rs 30 million. Sheikh had a BMW 2004 and a Mercedes Benz 2006, which he has sold out. He has furniture and fixture worth Rs 10.0 million.
